Evolution
By, Kaushik Paul
As a potent being, I used to live
In my sanctuary of bliss.
But now, my senses, I can’t believe,
Such changes are in my niche.
My skills are no more apt;
The tide of time has turned.
Awestruck, to see how others adapt,
In my rigidity, I’ve burned.
On the list of endangerment,
My name, clearly, I can see.
I fight my estrangement;
Extinct, is what I can’t afford to be.
Let there be alterations in my DNA;
Let some organs turn obsolete;
Let some instincts sandpaper away;
Let my mutation be complete.
I place myself in this venture,
For evolution is the order of the day.
Heeding to the call of Nature,
I will arise as a beast of prey.
