Last Grains in the Hourglass
By, Kaushik Paul
A nerdy student scratches her head,
The answer to the final question she tries to recall.
But her distinction dreams remain unfulfilled,
As the last grains in the hourglass fall.
In a crimson evening, an unfaithful lover
Says sorry and asks her to forgive all.
And the shimmering sun drowns in the scarlet sky,
As the last grains in the hourglass fall.
A shadowy fugitive attempts prison escape,
Lest, on him, judgement shall befall.
But the spotlights and sirens mar his plan,
As the last grains from the hourglass fall.
An eminent athlete misses the record,
Alas, by a distance small.
His tears veil among the salty sweats,
As the last grains from the hourglass fall.
In a solemn hospital, a desperate doctor
Tries to help ignoring the death’s call.
But the beeping machine mocks his efforts,
As the last grains in the hourglass fall.
A weird poet is busy scribing,
His weird thoughts on the digital scroll.
And he ends this poem here with a spot,
As the last grains in the hourglass fall.
