The Digital Doll

THE DIGITAL DOLL

By, Kaushik Paul

I’m your old friend,
Silent and dumb.
Disposed and discarded;
Loneliness has turned me numb.

I stay in your closet
Sit in a corner,
Watching you all day
Astonished by your new manners.

Your age has changed
And so has your needs.
Holding someone else’s hand,
You walk the streets.

Once lavished with lustre,
Now I’m dusty and dull.
Unlike a living,
An I.C. chip numskull.

To get me,
A fortune you ventured,
Together we fought great battles
And rode for adventures.

I recall the golden days
When you were young.
Dreams that we saw together,
Still remain unsung.

Since you played with me,
It has been so long.
My only wish is to be with you,
To the one I belong.
